Lucknow Diary

The carnival had begun. The BJP juggernaut was rolling. For the first time a sitting Prime Minister, albeit a caretaker one, was filing his nomination from Lucknow. Atal Bihari Vajpayee was in attendance to file his nomination papers as a Bharatiya Janata Party candidate for the third time in succession. However, not before paying obeisance to the gods in a building owned by a local hotelier in Lucknow. The only discordant note was the complete silence of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Kalyan Singh, who later in the evening did not even attend the Prime Minister's tea party. IndiaDecides' Anirban Roy brings you exclusive pictures of the occassion.

Even Vajpayee needs a god

Blessings taken, the journey begins

Crowd in attendance for their leader

The leader emerges

Acknowledges the patient crowd

The hopes rise high with the baloons

The juggernaut rolls

The final darshan before he files his nomination
