I moved to television programming in June 93 and by 99 I had covered and dabbled in various aspects of television programming; producing, directing, editing and cranking the camera for documentaries, current affairs programmes, docu-dramas, fiction, live news coverage for general elections as a Line Producer, Live OB Producer and providing consultancy to various television production and post-production houses like BBC World, NDTV and Doordarshan.

After six years in the electronic media, I moved to the medium of digital media and new media communications in July 99 and joined the India Today Group Online (ITGO).

I joined Reuters in 2000 as an Online Producer and was promoted as Editor of Reuters India Online | www.reuters.co.in in 2005.

I joined The Wall Street Journal as its India Editor for WSJ.com in December 2008.

I am fascinated by the potential of digital media as a tool of mass communication and firmly believe in the power of convergence.

I have covered two general elections in India as a television news producer, correspondent and photojournalist.

• Managed the client-facing Reuters India website till August 2007 and launched the consumer-facing website as part of Reuters' direct-to-consumer offering in India.
  
  
• Editorial role involved day-to-day editorial operations for the India website, news selection and coordination, generating multimedia content (slideshows, video interviews, web exclusive video packages and Reuters Insights), coordinating with bureau editors on a day-to-day basis, writing and commissioning blogs, guest columns and moderating blog comments. Conceptualising global coverage pages around big news events in coordination with all global stakeholders - editorial, business and product - and manage them on a day-to-day basis from India. Conceptualise and implement simple text or Java SMS news content for mobile clients in India, Asia and some in Oceania.

• Product role involved content and channel packaging as per business or sponsor plans, search engine optimization tasks for the news website and our business and personal finance website Reuters Money; third party content management, initiating and coordinating new features for the site with the Reuters global product, design and technology team as well as optimizing available resources for the site. Promoting Reuters web properties on social media sites via feeds, linkbacks and widgets and helping the Reuters global product team with new initiatives on social media platforms like Twitter, Squidoo and FriendFeed. Hire design consultants for creating micro sites, hand hold all external consultants for design, look and feel and overall site design as per the Thomson Reuters global design templates.
